The Problem

The client is a rather new non- profit art exhibition centre. The space was active for one year before closing due to the Beirut blast and Covid confinement. Besides a couple of emergency grants for reconstruction following the Beirut blast, the client had never received official project or core funding. The client is also undergoing restructuring and had yet to develop a plan of work/activities for the year.

Approach & Solutions
  • Applied for online call for applications to as many relevant grants as possible to get the name of the organization out there and push for activity development
  • At a first stage, prioritized core funding from donors who are familiar with the organization and are willing to support it while it is undergoing restructuring
  • Reached out to embassies known for their interest in arts
  • Ensured proper reporting to successful grant applications
  • Developed plan for a diversified income generation
Results

All internal good governance policies were developed to better appeal to donors

Core funding was secured to cover around 50% of the costs for the first year

At least two embassies showed interest, including one promise of funding

The team is regularly updated on donor requirements prior to reporting deadline
